WDB620 is a new type of low weld crack sensitivity high strength steel sheet (CF steel) of 60kg grade for hydroelectric penstock and scroll case of unit developed by Wugang to adapt to and meet the project of power transmission from west to east. It is divided into C and D grades. It can provide 8-100mm thickness range specification steel plate, in which <=50mm thick steel plate is produced by TMCP process, and >50-100mm steel plate is produced by quenching and tempering process. The steel plate has good strength-toughness matching, excellent low-temperature impact toughness and cold formability, and good welding performance. Especially <=50mm steel plate does not need preheating before welding and after welding. The characteristics of heat treatment make site construction simple.

Since its successful development in 2001, it has met the technical requirements for the use of penstock and volute in dozens of large and medium-sized hydropower stations in China, simplified the production process of penstock and saved the production cost. At present, the steel plate has been approved by many hydropower design institutes and construction units, with a total supply of more than 10,000 tons. At the same time, the steel can also be used in bridge, ship, offshore oil platform, coal mining machinery, construction machinery and other industries.

Characteristics of TMCP high strength steel:

A: Steel with high purity and strict control of inclusions, P, S, H, O and N gases.

B: Reasonable yield-strength ratio control, through adjusting the composition and improving the process, the yield-strength ratio tends to be more reasonable, and the supply steel Re/Rm is between 0.80 and 0.88.

C: Excellent low temperature toughness. The low temperature toughness of Benxi steel is excellent. The technical requirement of supply can be raised to 60J. There is no need to worry about brittle failure.

D: Excellent weldability. By improving the smelting process, adjusting the amount of alloy in steel, further reducing the Pcm value, it has good weldability without preheating before welding and heat treatment after welding.

E: Good shape appearance of steel plate, strong rolling mill and straightener with international advanced level ensure that steel plate has excellent shape and appearance quality, which is convenient for blanking manufacture and use.

Quality Control Level of Wugang Steel Plate

1. The purity of molten steel is very low, the impurity content can reach [P] < 0.002%, [S] < 0.001%, [N] < 50 ppm, [H] < 2 ppm, [O] < 15 ppm.

2. The fluctuation range of composition between steel plate and different furnaces of the same specification is small.

3. The internal quality of steel plate can be manufactured and inspected according to the inspection standards of China (JB4730; GB72790), USA (A435, A578), Japan (JISG0801, JISG0901), Germany (SEL072), France (NFA04305) and forgings (GB/T6402).

4. The hardness of steel plate is uniformly controlled, and the hardness difference between steel plate and plate is small.

5. The tolerance of steel plate is strictly controlled, the shape of the plate is flat, the surface is smooth and the roughness can be controlled below 5 mm/m.
